New Bank for the Lehman Brothers is a sculpture that consist of 3 objects that should be regarded as architectural models (scale 1 : 100) for buildings: a new bank for the Lehman Brothers. Before declaring bankruptcy in 2008, Lehman was the fourth largest investment bank in the USA. The bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers remains the largest bankruptcy filing in the US history and is in that sense in many ways exemplary for the current economical state of affairs in the US and Europe.

Nieuwe Bank voor The Lehman Brothers in Palais d‘Iena, Paris

Het Palais d’Iena, is een belangrijke tentoonstellingsruimte die tussen 1937 en 1946 is ontworpen door architect Auguste Perret om wisselende tentoonstellingen voor schilderkunst in te houden. Sinds 1959 dient het Palais d’Iena als hoofdkwartier voor de Raad voor economische, sociale en milieuzaken. Onlangs heeft het de deuren weer geopend voor het publiek voor speciale evenementen en in de Hypostyle ruimte is in oktober 2011 de tentoonstelling de tentoonstelling PEARLS OF THE NORTH te zien.

Nieuwe bank voor The Lehman Brothers is een beeld dat bestaat uit 3 delen die gezien moeten worden als architectuur modellen voor een nieuwe bank voor The Lehman Brothers (schaal 1: 100) Lehman Brothers was tot aan haar faillissement in september 2008 de op 4 na grootste Amerikaanse investeringsbank. De faillissement aanvraag van de bank op 14 september 2008 is de grootste uit de Amerikaanse geschiedenis en het faillissement is exemplarisch voor de huidige economische malaise in zowel de VS als Europa.

2011 Canson Prize awarded to artist Ronald Cornelissen

On Thursday, 9 June, at a ceremony held at the Louvre museum, the 2011 Canson Prize was awarded by Gérard Garouste and his panel of judges to Dutch artist Ronald Cornelissen.

Stéphane Hamelin, President of the Canson Fund for Art and Paper, presented Ronald Cornelissen
with the 2011 Canson Prize designed and created by Matali Crasset, a leading figure in French design.

According to Gérard Garouste, President of the Prize, “Ronald Cornelissen is one of those artists who play with simple elements to create a personal subject, with figurative patterns and perspectives”.

Since 1988, Ronald Cornelissen has been producing drawings, sculptures and installations which highlight the individual’s relationship with his/her immediate surroundings and the resulting frictions.

Lors d’une cérémonie au musée du Louvre, le Prix Canson 2011 a été décerné le jeudi 9 juin par Gérard Garouste et son jury à l’artiste néerlandais Ronald Cornelissen.

Stéphane Hamelin, Président du Fonds CansonÒ pour l’Art et le Papier, a remis à Ronald Cornelissen le Prix Canson 2011 imaginé et conçu par matali Crasset, figure incontournable du design français.

D’après Gérard Garouste, président du Prix, « Ronald Cornelissen fait partie de ces artistes qui jouent avec ces éléments simples pour élaborer un sujet personnel, avec des perspectives et des motifs figuratifs ».

Depuis 1988, Ronald Cornelissen réalise des dessins, sculptures et installations qui mettent en avant la relation entre l’homme et son environnement immédiat et les frictions qui en résultent.

La vocation du Prix Canson créé en 2010 par le Fonds Canson pour l’Art et le Papier est
d’encourager, de promouvoir et de récompenser un artiste qui témoigne d’une véritable recherche dans l’univers de l’Art et du Papier.
